I was very excited when my mentor invited me to sit in on a presentation this week. The presentation was over the Cannes Film Festival and the up and coming marketing strategies. Sitting through this presentation gave me new insight on my Original Work. As I will be revising and creating my own campaign, viewing and experiencing marketing campaigns from around the world that were successful helped me to gain ideas and a base level understanding as to where I need to start with my original work. I was intrigued my all that was presented. Even though I was unable to fully understand some of the topics discussed and questions asked, the presentation did not bore me. With that in mind, it assured me that marketing is an industry that I would enjoy working in. Furthermore, being able to witness the business setting and the insight the marketing staff brought to the table was great. Also seeing how the agency interacts with the client, in this case Dr Pepper, was very insightful. I thoroughly enjoyed attending this meeting and am so grateful for my amazing mentor and her willingness to allow me to attend these presentations. I am looking forward to other meetings she has set up for me to sit in on!
