Weekly Report

January 17th, 2017 - January 23rd, 2017

Over the past couple days I have had a fairly busy schedule in regards to school work. Last Wednesday was our Research Showcase. The Research Showcase was a great opportunity to practice my communication skills and present all my hard work from the first semester to my friends and family. I thoroughly enjoyed the showcase as I was able to walk around and see the work of my fellow peers and other ISM students across the district. The showcase took place at the Ford Star which enhanced the experience even more. My mentor was also in attendance at the showcase and I was able to introduce her to a couple of my family members. Being able to hold a conversation and answer questions from those who walked up to my board helped me to practice my public speaking skill in an informal manner. The following day I had a visit with my mentor as well as one of her coworkers who is involved with content. One of the things that made the visit important was that it further solidified my interest in the industry. We discussed some of the creative and fun marketing campaigns produced by Dr Pepper and I was very intrigued by the “content” aspect of marketing. We also had time to discuss more on my product. A key strategy for deciding how to approach this product is determining apps and websites that I utilize and find value in, and then incorporating ideas from those into a possible personal branding platform.
