Weekly Report

November 8th, 2016 - November 14th, 2016

Throughout the course of this week I have had the opportunity to conduct three informational interviews. With these interviews I decided to redo my questions to make the most out of my interviews. With my previous informational interviews I had been asking general yet fundamental questions. This week I had the realization that I had gained a basic understanding of the industry and it was time to stop the asking the same monotonous questions. I spent a good amount of time formulating content based and specific questions which have greatly benefited my research. This is helpful insight that has helped guide my original work and research speech. Right off the bat next year I will know to spend time producing in depth specific questions that cannot be answered from google or other secondary research. In terms of marketing, I have been able to expand upon my general understanding and after discovering and subscribing to HubSpot, I have gained access to over thousands of marketing tools. While this may seem boring to some, scrolling through and reading about industry trends, ideas, and strategies has been something i've really grown to enjoy doing. This further affirms my interest in marketing. Lastly, when preparing and creating my research speech I have been tasked with something that I will most likely have to do in the future. The business and corporate world is inclusive of many speeches, meetings, and conferences. Learning how to capture and keep my audience's attention and produce a high quality speech has been challenging, but great practice. Listening to my fellow classmates speeches has also been a learning experience as I am able to expand and grow upon new techniques and strategies they use.
